Lace Up Flats are popping up everywhere. From Instagram accounts to the popular fashion magazines. They are apparently the hottest trend for Fall! But…….
I don’t know about where you’re from, but autumn in Chicago is cold, cold, cold. Going out in flats like these sans tights and leggings is well….(I can’t say it enough) cold. They don’t call us The Windy City for nothing (actually several reasons behind this name).
My fall days look like this: It’s a chilly morning and I break out the coziest sweaters I can find, layer up, find a good windbreaker (with insulation) and start my commute.
I walk to the nearest bus stop or train station and usually wait outside, sometimes for 15 minutes, sometimes for 30, sometimes for an hour. If I’m not waiting outside, I’m below ground…where it’s still pretty cold. I get to where I need to be and leave wherever I am around rush hour. That commute = usually and hour or more.
Temperatures are kind of up and down in Chicago. We can be 80 degrees one day and then 50 degrees the next. Fall is windy, fall is cold. These flats for Fall? Yeah…I don’t know…maybe one of these days. I can’t afford warm cab rides everyday….
BUT – theses flats are awesome for summer! I know it’s a little late in the season but I think I’ll get a pair for next summer. If you live in a place where your Fall is warm/or you can stand the cold – then I highly recommend these! They are so adorable and remind me of ballerinas. Don’t you just love the ballet?
