The 1920’s and 30’s are one of the best decades for fashion inspiration. From society changing it’s views on a dozen of different subject, to mass production of fashion styles for the first time. The 20’s and 30’s have set the tone for our own fashion choices today.
And one of my favorite throwback’s to the era are flapper inspired styles and apparel.
However, I’m not talking about the “dress up for Halloween as a flapper” type of dresses. Forget the fancy headbands and feather boas.
I’m talking evening flapper dresses that can make any modern woman look fabulous. Want to learn how to wear flapper dresses in a modern way? Keep reading!
Don’t add the frills
If you’re going for a modern 1920’s look, skip the long beads, pearls, feathers, and the whole shebang. The point is to make a subtle statement to the flappers – and you’re already doing that with a statement dress!
I have an added vintage camera for emphasis and aesthetics, but I’m not carrying it around with this dress (although it does work and I have carried it around- normal everyday clothes though!)
Pair with nude heels
But do add red lipstick
In my previous post about finding the right lipstick shade, I talk about how I prefer a cooler and richer red tone. Red lipstick really brings the dress to life. If you want a bit of an old Hollywood glam about you, a red lip would work.
Otherwise you can try a deep purple or a mauve or rosy shade.
