Spring is a time of renewal and growth.
It’s the perfect time to try new things out and explore not only the world around you, but your own unique skill sets and personality!
So today, I’m sharing 10 things everyone should give a shot this spring – not only to challenge yourself, but to see how you can look and feel your best!
1. Eating From Home
We are doing something called “At Home April” this spring. The rules are that everything we eat has to be made at home – breakfast, lunches, and dinner. To prep, we did a meal plan for everyday of the week and got ingredients in advance.
ALL of the meal plan ideas come from $5 Meal Plan, which is a meal planning service that gives you 30 days of meal plans for only $5! Each meal is only about $2 per person, so they help save you money at the grocery store as well. No more spending time browsing Pinterest for hours! And each plan is customizable based on dietary restrictions too.
2. Clean Out Your Closet
Spring is the perfect time to go through all of your closets and get rid of things you haven’t worn for a year. With the exception of coats, winter boots, and special occasion items – if I haven’t worn anything in over 6 months, I donate it to charity. Why keep something you don’t really wear all that often?
3. Organize Your Day
The biggest thing we lose out on n life is TIME. Not because it goes by so fast (although that is true). But because we spend it doing things that don’t really improve us in any way. Organizing your day can help with avoiding distractions and making sure you finish all of your daily tasks.
I love using my Day Designer Planner to design and organize my schedule. It’s so easy to use and very chic looking too (which is a plus!)
4. Try A New Look
Have you wanted to try a new hairstyle or makeup look? Now is the perfect time to try it out! I always like to try out shorter hair cuts in the spring and summer months, since it’s bound to be a tad bit warm for longer hair. If I like the hairstyle, I stick with it for the rest of the year.
5. Learn A New Language
In my last post, I talked about one of my goals for this year being learning a new language. Spring is the perfect time to try learning a new language in time for a summer trip or just because!
The fall and winter months tend to be a busier time to be learning a new skill, so take advatanage of this time to learn a language you’ve always wanted to try!
Speaking of learning a new language! How would you feel about learning French? Right here, at The Petite Bijou? If you’re interested in learning french language and culture, can you let me know? Leave your answer in the comments!
6. Treat Yourself!
Whether it’s a night out or a spa day in, you should take the time to do something for yourself this spring. Too many people don’t make time for pampering themselves these days and it’s such a shame! A little relaxation can go a long way in reducing stress and helping you feel better. Stuck on what to do? What about a DIY spa night at home?
7. Grow Herbs Indoors
Growing your own herbs is a really fun activity and can lead the amazing home cooked meals! There’s nothing like walking over to your windowsill and picking up a few basil leaves to put on a home cooked pizza or chicken dish! If you’re stuck on what kind of plants do well in apartments, check out my previous post on living with indoor plants.
8. Start Journaling
To destress in the morning or at the end of the day, I write all my blog posts, schedule my time, and write in a journal. It’s a great way to take everything you’re thinking about and putting it away on a piece of paper. If you’re anything like me, overthinking often leads to no sleep. Journaling before bed is a great way to prevent that.
9. Taking More Walks
I was watching a BBC documentary the other day about how we spend WAAYY too much time sitting down – when traveling, in our offices, and in our homes. This overstating is leading to serious health issues in our population. Why not take more walks this spring?
The documentary (which I can’t remember the name now but when I do, will post) said that every walking for 15 minutes each day would help significantly! What do you think?
10. Read More
Spring is also the perfect time to read more books! It’s time to put down the phones and tablets, and start filling our lives with something just a little bit more….useful.
When was the last time you picked up a book? If reading isn’t your thing, start small with newspapers, magazines, and blog posts (yes, even online!). At least you’re reading instead of aimlessly scrolling and “liking”.
For inspiration, check out my previous #ReadMoreSwipeLess Reading Challenge!
