Rain rain…..stay for a while, won’t you? I love a rainy day – because it’s glamorous and luxurious. Why? Because you can enjoy a rainy day just as much as a sunny one. And you can be cozy too.
When you can enjoy even rainy days, you can enjoy the little things and have gratitude during difficult or cloudy times in your life.
Not sure how to enjoy that next rainy day? Here’s a few tried and tested tips.
1. Catch Up on Sleep
If you’ve got a day off or it’s the weekend, catch up on some sleep! Do it fabulously, but don’t over do it. You can hit that snooze button and relax while hearing the rain drops hit your windows. If it’s not too bad of a storm, open the windows a bit and let some rain air come through.

2. Enjoy All Your Meals
Take the to enjoy eating! Sit at a table or counter and put away your phone. Take the time to savor each flavor that hits your palette. Listen to an audiobook or journal while you’re at it. This is the time to really go minute by minute without thinking ahead about what you’ll be doing that day. Pull up a chair by the window and watch the rain with a cup of coffee.
Best podcast to listen to: The Bijou Show
3. Read A Book
Have you read something lately? And I’m not talking about reading blog posts, social media posts, or texts. What’s the last book you read? Have you been wanting to read a specific book? It could be a fiction novel or something that will help you, like a business book for your job.
Take this time to curl up on the couch with a book. If that rain isn’t hitting your window hard enough you can tune into Rainy Mood to help get the rain mood right in your own home!
Currently reading: Six Wives of Henry VII by Allison Weir
4. Invest In A Spa Day
Get your favorite bath and spa products together and pamper yourself. Light a candle and some relaxing music and enjoy painting your nails while watching the rain fall. This is the time to really get in a good spa day and detox your body. Try soaking in epsom salts or simply spend time doing yoga with the sound of rain drops.

Write a letter to your family members or send a nice greeting to your best friend. Send some positive messages on Facebook or send a lovely text! Make someone’s day. I don’t really have many letters to send, so I like to catch up on my emails, write my short stories, and also do a reflection journal on a beautiful notepad.

6. Visit A Museum
My favorite rainy day activity is visiting Chicago’s Art Museum. The trip over might not be the most glamorous thing, but it’s so educational and uplifting to view artwork on a gloomy day. Check the museum website for student discounts or free days – who knows! The rainy day might be a free day!
If you’re in Chicago, The Art Institute free day is every Thursday from 5-8pm.
Maybe going outdoors during a rainy day isn’t your thing…and that’s ok. Do you have a craft or something you’ve been wanting to try? Do it today! Clear your kitchen or dining room table and craft away! This is a great way to put all your energy into something creative. Put some upbeat music on while you work.

8. Re-Organize Your Closet
Rainy days are perfect for cleaning out your closet and really assessing your wardrobe. Think about what clothes don’t fit you anymore – those are perfect to donate. While you’re at it: write down what items you’d like to add!
Building a wardrobe with staple pieces will help you declutter your closet more easily – to the point where you don’t need to reorganize!
9. Cook or Bake
That recipe you saved on Pinterest? Do it! If you’re going to be stuck inside anyways and are scared of trying something new in the culinary department: NOW IS YOUR TIME!

10. Play In The Rain
You have rain boots right? Go jump in some puddles, get wet, get wild. Let your hair loose and bask in the rain.
