When I first started this blog, I knew I wanted it to incorporate one thing: elegance
As I browsed the hundreds of blogs and Instagram accounts I had stumbled upon, I lacked any motivation to follow them based on their content. I knew I wanted to create something that was unique but also relatable. I liked some style blogs, but none of them represented the way I wanted to dress or feel.
There were two extremes: extremely casual or extremely high end. There was no in-between. There was no casual elegance.
The Petite Bijou was born with a mission to create a space where women like myself can find inspiration in style and in life. They strive for elegance, for simplicity, for adventure, and to enjoy the little jewels life has to offer.
I know I can’t be the only one out there who wants to attain a higher self – a better understanding of art, style, and culture.
Today I want to share the branding inspiration behind my blog – something I have been building up for the past year to finally open up to you about. I want you to see firsthand, the images and aesthetics that inspire me to keep this blog going.
Inspirations for The Petite Bijou Aesthetics
My personal style mantras are the following: elegant, simple. and functional. Nothing combines those mantras the best like vintage fashion does. I’m not saying I want to feature vintage fashion, what I’m saying is look behind the clothes into the principles: good clothing, elegant, and versatile. I know my readers like the same principles, so iconic women wearing lovely clothing is very inspirational for my blog.
Life Imitates Art
There’s something so wonderful about being so close to art – whether its painting or sculpture. Art is an expression of the soul, of current events. To connect to it is connecting to life on a deeper level. Petite Bijou is all about taking inspiration from art around us.
Whether its newspapers, books, or magazines, reading is an integral part of staying informed and knowledgable about many topics. I love to read and I know my readers do too! With a good cup of coffee to tea, of course.
The British way of life is the only way! Just kidding – but not really. This one is very personal to me. I always had a love for British culture and customs, so much so I am always dreaming of moving there and owning a lovely Georgian country estate. British cultural characteristics make their way into my brand and blog posts.
Old Hollywood Glamour
There’s a beauty about the old Hollywood stars that remind us of romance and elegance. The beauty look I must love is red lips and a small cat eye. It’s iconic and suits almost anyone! I never leave the house without it.
Wherever you go, you should know the rich history behind it. You should hear its story, understand the characters and events that made it what it is. I often ask myself “I wonder what this building use to be used for?” when I walk in and then find out so much that people have already forgotten.
Planning is overrated. Be spontaneous in little ways – fix your makeup at an expensive hotel lobby, decide to have cheeseburgers at midnight, go off on a vacation to Paris by yourself!
Filling The Space With Beauty
Part of the Bijou lifestyle is filling your sacred spaces with beautiful things. I love being surrounded by florals,- they are both organic and beautiful, something that remind me that there is joy in the small things in life. Every woman needs a fresh bunch of roses on her table.
Ready For Success
The Bijou woman is ready for success – wherever it takes her. I appreciate hard work, ambition, and skill. I am constantly challenging myself and I believe that all of this leads to not only a successful lifestyle, but a fulfilled one.
The Royal Prerogative
For some reason. the last picture reminds me of a lady getting ready in her royal apartment. She is surrounded by beautiful things: art, marble, and fine dresses. Maybe I love all those things, but I know that my readers sure wish they were that lady! So why not be? You can be surrounded by those things anyways! You can create the lifestyle you’d like to emulate…you can be whoever you want to be. This is the royal prerogative!
What do you think of these principles? Do they match the Bijou branding? I’d love to know your thoughts and what you personally connect to the most. It’s always a pleasure getting to know my readers. Please leave a comment below, I would definitely love to chat with you!
