Summer means my vintage style gets to shine! And today I want to share my favorite online stores to shop for vintage inspired summer clothing. There is no one “best” store although there are specific vintage themed shops. Mostly, I buy more everyday outfits and make them vintage with a touch of lipstick and vintage inspired hair.
Vintage Inspired Online Stores
Stores like Modcloth and Unique Vintage are my go to online stores for when I want something distinctly vintage but modern. Modcloth has more “hipster” type clothing, but I would argue their stuff is definitely not too hipster. They actually have cute things that anyone can wear – even if you don’t want something vintage per say. But if you want a more vintage inspired outfit, check out Unique Vintage. Everything on there is made with a specific time period in mind. They make everything from 1920s inspired flapper dresses to big 50s skirts. They also have wonderful collaborations with brands like Disney and Barbie!
Stores for Separates
When you want to put together a vintage or elegant inspired closet, a great way to do that is get separates. What I mean is, don’t get a complete “vintage” outfit. Instead, get tops, pants, skirts, dresses, etc that will always looks good on you and not just on a particularly vintage day. This is where the capsule wardrobe concept really comes into play. For example, I actually don’t own many vintage inspired outfits, but I do own separates that when put together, create a vintage look. The dress I’m wearing in this post for example, looks very 1940s – but it’s totally modern and I can wear it again without looking vintage. Make sense?

Vintage Inspired Pieces from these Shops
If I don’t buy vintage from thrift stores or antique shops, I’m almost always wearing faux vintage. True vintage isn’t always very budget friendly or in good shape, so creating a wardrobe that you really love is just about curating items that will suit you well. For me, I love the timeless and elegant pieces that may or may not look vintage…its hard to tell, and that’s the exact thing I’m going for!
