Why I Can’t Stop Wearing This Fall Staple

It’s finally that time of year again.

You know what I mean.

OMG Pumpkin Spice Lattee & Riding Boots!!!

Record scratch – hold it right there.

PSL’s and riding boots are all good (if you’re into that) but beautiful fall fashion & accessories come from a place of simplified elegance. I believe in styling oneself in a minimal but impactful way.

I want to share with you one staple style item that will serve you well this fall – not only will it keep you cozy but it looks beautiful in a very simple way.

Back in August I had the chance to shop the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. In one of my Instagram stories try on sessions, I tried this cozy twist knot fleece pullover and got so many of you saying how cute it was. So naturally, I had to get it!

This fleece pullover is the coziest top I own. And that says a lot considering I own a lot of cozy tops! During the anniversary sale, I choose this grey color over the 6 others avaliable. All the colors were very pretty but here’s a big tip:

What I really love about this sweater is the fabric. Fleece is so comforting because it feels amazing against the skin. It keeps you warm without being scratchy or itchy (like wool). The little knot detailing is a cute twist on a trend we are seeing a lot this year. It gives it that hint of trendiness without being too overwhelming.

One of the things I believe in is effortless elegance and simplicity in everyday looks. Instead of wearing big and loud statement pieces, I would rather go for just a hint of a statement. For one, it doesn’t distract from your beautiful personality, but magnifies it. While a very loud apparel piece may predispose someone to make an assumption about your personality.

This sweater says = I’m cozy but modern.

This is a great sweater to dress up or dress down. You can pair it with jeans for a casual look or wear it over a dress, with a skirt, for a more refined look.

I went for a casual look today with my Paige denim skinny jeans and Calson black booties. I got both of these items at the sale.

Scroll down to shop my entire look!

What I’m Wearing:

Cozy Fleece Pullover

Paige Denim Skinny Jeans

Clason Black Suede Booties

Faux Leather Crossbody Purse

Felt Floppy Hat

  • I meant to get a post out today.. I really did. But when things get messy, I like to step back and just focus my attention on the issue and not tire myself out. This is a huge problem I see when people try to “do it all”. NEWSFLASH: you don’t have to do it all and no one is expecting you to. Go somewhere (or stay indoors) and make sure that YOU are taking care of yourself in some way: meditation, spa, journaling, etc. one of my favorite things to do is walk. And I love walking to the stunning Japanese gardens in the @artinstitutechi 🌳

I love coming here to sit down with my coffee and listen to the water fountains while reading a book. It's a beautiful and serene place in downtown. And it's so lovely seeing everyone enjoy it. What is your favorite serene spot in your city or town? Leave a comment below ❤️ #thepetitebijou #artinstituteofchicago #chicagoigers #japanesegardens

  • First it was the Gish sisters, then Ginger Rogers, then President Kennedy, and now The Petite Bijou! Honored to have stayed at @theblackstonehotel hotel and I'm taking you behind the scenes of this historical Chicago hotel in my first ever travel series on the blog called The Bijou Guide to Historical Chicago!
This hotel opened in 1910 and it still has all the glitz, glamour, and original history inside and out. From the grand lobby (featuring a lovely typewrite I'm obsessed with) to the private rooms and suites. This hotel oozes luxury and history that I shared in the latest blog post. • I have been a student for what can be best described as "infinity" amount of time. And two degrees, 3 whirlwind majors later, I have a few tricks and tips under my belt about how to survive college. So today I'm sharing 25 of my best tips for not only staying sane - but organized, efficient, and studious. There's some surprising tips there, so do check it out.
I want to know, are you in college right now? Tell us what you are studying ❤️ Are any of you later in life college students?
Here's my journey just in case you feel shy to share:
▪️Spent 5 years in undergrad getting a BA in History & Anthropology. Prepped to study abroad in Britain for my higher degree afterwards
▪️Decided not to pursue a higher degree in History, needed premedical classes I never took.
▪️Applied and accepted into a Post Baccalaureate medical school program. Started my blog during classes.
▪️During this program, couldn't pass Chem or Math (should have known), quit and took gap year doing more internships
▪️Took GRE but got rejected for Marketing and Communications programs due to low "math" score portion of GRE....ok then...
▪️Applied to my last option, got in, and got my Masters in IMC (Integrated Marketing Communications). Best decision ever, should have done it first and sooner.
So you see, it's ok if you're journey isn't standard...it doesn't matter. What matters is you find what works for you and you do a great job at it. My journey had ups and downs but in the end, my happiness was priority. #thepetitebijou #collegetips #backtoschool #universitylife
