Christmas Gifts I Want But Won’t Ask For

There’s this guilty feeling I get when I get asked the question:

“What do you want for Christmas?”

I freeze up, give a little awkward laugh and say I want nothing and that no one should spend their money or time on something for me. I’m happy and I have everything I want in my life – a roof over my head, food & water, my health, cats…what more could I possibly need or want?

And the truth is, the way the world is right now, I feel guilty for even ordering a small hot chocolate at Starbucks. I feel guilty complaining about the dinner I didn’t like when there are others without food. I feel unimportant and unworthy of any gift.

So what am I supposed to say to that question when I feel too guilty to ask for what I really want?

Because as guilty as I feel. I do want things. Doesn’t everyone?

There’s a few things I’d like to get but I would never ask for. And yes, I could eventually get these things myself. But it would be nice to get them as a gift – maybe I can’t afford it at the moment. or it’s too risky, or too time consuming.

So I decided to share what things I really want but won’t ever ask for. I’m working my way up to be able to get these things. But this Christmas, the timing isn’t right.

Sunday Riley Good Genes Lactic Acid Treatment

Apparently this stuff is the elixir of the gods. I’ve heard so many great things about this lactic acid treatment from those dealing with acne, discoloration, dullness, and texture issues. My skin is currently going through a really weird dry and dull spell (probably because I hate winter), and I could really use a good treatment regimen. Plus, I tried a sample of this and it was amazing. Sunday Riley is a fast rising skincare brand. Have you tried it?

A 2nd ME (an assistant)

What I would give to have a second ME helping out for my blog and business. My energy levels are at an all time low this year and being visually impaired means I won’t get to things as fast as other people. I need help with the tech and time consuming times in my business – sending emails, shooting pictures, sales copy, integration, editing. If I could, I’d take on an intern to train but I don’t even have the time and resources to do that. This energy sucking phase means everything moves slower than it should and I’m not able to build momentum.

A Burberry Check Scarf

Ever since I started graduate school, my main focus has been how luxury brands connect to their audiences and use influencer marketing. The first luxury brand I studied was Burberry. It was a natural choice because of my love for British heritage goods. Studying the brand has really opened my eyes to the excellent design and long history of supplying the British public with outerwear. One of the most iconic pieces is their check scarf.

I want to own this piece of history not only because of the design, but as a reminder of my first branding project. Studying Burberry was a pivotal time in my career.

A Holistic Health Coach

From working endless hours on this website to helping my clients with their own brands, my body takes a toll on my schedule – especially with a chronic illness or two. I’d like to have someone take charge for me and not only tell me what to eat or do, but also hold me accountable.

A New Makeup Brush Set

All my brushes are over 7 years old! They are starting to lose their texture. I am also using the same brush for multiple purposes (because I can’t ever find the right fit) and it’s getting messy. I’d love a full brush set like this – because it’s easier to use and I will have a variety of brushes to choose from (especially if I start doing makeup for other people). This makeup brush set has it all but it’s a pricey.

What are some things you really want but won’t ask for? I want to hear from you! Leave a comment below. I hope I’m not the only one that feels like this.

  2. I feel the same! So awkward when asked what I would like for Christmas. But that Burberry scarf is calling my name too! 😉

  • LAUNCHED AND LIVE: the new Petite Bijou logo created by the very talented designer @desnoir
-
I knew from the very start I wanted The Petite Bijou logo designed by Alaura. When I put together my first mood board, one of her logos caught my eye and I knew right away that Alaura was meant to bring my vision to life. A vision of a brand that resonated with the classically inspired woman.
-
That was over a year ago. At the time, I didn't have a single penny to put towards my brand. But I knew it that a year from then, I would have the perfect logo.
-
I built my mood board, looked at it everyday, and put every single dollar I earned from brand collaborations, affiliate sales, and advertising back into my brand. I started a new business just to fund my passion. I took on too many clients and burned myself out.
-
A year later. I'm proud to say this blog isn't just a blog, but a brand that has brought an amazing community together. I hired my first assistant, redesigned the site, and found Alaura. And I'm happy to say that we've now added a contributing writer to the site - one of my very own readers who felt aligned with The Petite Bijou mission of providing wholesome yet sophisticated life and styling tips to women.
-
I never intended this website to just be about me and my outfits. I want to share actual tips, reviews, and interesting editorial pieces. And the biggest motivation for me right now is hearing someone say "that's so Bijou" to me when they see something that would be a part of the brand that is elegant, sophisticated, and beautiful. You have no idea how amazing that is to hear! 😍
-
I have to thank @desnoir for making my dream brand a reality with a stunning logo that is SO BIJOU.
-
Here is the brand mantra that inspired it all: {Classic Elegance Simple Femininity, Intellectual Truths, Inspirational Mindsets}
And if these mantras resonate with you, join the Bijou community via the link in my bio. .

  • Raise your hand if you've seen this outfit before and it was labeled or hashtaged #frenchgirlstyle 🙋🏻‍♀️

Whatever traditional stereotypes you have about how French women dress, throw them out. Because they certainly don't all walk around Paris with striped shirts and red berets (great style staples, but not a must). Today on ThePetiteBijou.com, I am sharing 5 fashion faux pas French women avoid. Click the link in my bio to read the post.
-
At the heart of it, French women don't dress to "look" a certain way. It's all about having a wardrobe that fits their lifestyle, something we can learn from greatly. And while the outfit you see before you may be considered traditionally French, it is only one type of style choice that has become the epitome of The Parisienne...
