Top 3 Beauty Game Changers

Happy Wednesday! Hope everyone is enjoying their day and week thus far! Today I am talking about my Top 3 Beauty Game Changers! These things have not only saved me time on doing my makeup, but have made my routine so much simpler.

Before I got these products my makeup prep time totaled= 20 minutes. If I’m ever in a rush, that’s not good timing. I don’t know about you, but I’m an early riser. I wake up hours before I have to get somewhere to relax while I eat my breakfast, take my time doing my hair and makeup, and take my time walking/commuting wherever I need to be.

Now, not all of this is about “relaxing” – it takes forever to get ready because I have chronic fatigue syndrome. What normally would take five minutes sometimes takes me 10 or 15, depending on how I feel.

But – everything’s gotten 10x faster thanks to these 3 Beauty Game Changers!

Top 3 Beauty Game Changers - Beauty Blender | The Petite Bijou

 Sephora Beauty Blender

Beauty Blender

I don’t know why I was using a standard brush for so long to put my foundation on. It took forever! My makeup routine (when I’m very busy) is 10 minutes top. If I take longer then I risk being late. The beauty blender has helped me make putting on foundation a breeze! All you have to do is wet the sponge, dap foundation on, and blend! It’s super easy and prevents me from putting on too much products. It’s especially handy at those hard to reach spaces, that would usually mean using your ring finger to get.

The two downsides to the beauty blenders are: they are unhygienic and cost a lot of money for a sponge. Save your money and hygiene by regular washing and airing out the blender. You want to make sure you are washing it every day to prevent mold or bacterial growth. Air it out by a window with good ventilation for maximum results.

My favorite Beauty Blender the Sephora Beauty Blender found here // I also really like this one which is cheaper.

Top 3 Beauty Game Changers - Primers | The Petite Bijou

Laura Mercier Primer

At first I thought: “Whats the big deal with primers? Doesn’t it just replace moisturizer?” But then I was intruded to matte primers and the heavens opened up with bright light on my make up counter!

A bit over-drammatic, but primers have seriously been my new favorite blessing by the makeup gods. Silky primers cut my makeup time in half. I put it on and boom! No imperfections. Well, not quite.

You see, I was an SJS victim, and one of the side effects of this horrible disease was your skin burning from the inside out. Yup, full on burn – minus the flame. I’m glad I wasn’t awake during that horrible time, but it’s left me with significant scarring, most of it on my face. It’s not too noticeable from far away but as soon as I hit sunlight there they are: horrible battle wounds written across my face. Enter hat….at least until I found the perfect primer.

I am in love with this Timeless Smoothing Primer by Tarte. It filled in some of the scarring and I’m not super self conscious about it now. I just ran out, so I’ll have to get some more. The best part? It didn’t break me out like other primers! Huzzah! Take that for a Petite Bijou!

Another one I really love is this one by Smashbox

Top 3 Beauty Game Changers - Translucent Powder | The Petite Bijou

NARS Translucent Powder

Translucent Powder

The third holy grail of beauty game changers – this powder type will leave you loving the way you look. Transculent powder is amazing at setting your makeup. At 11PM my makeup still looks on point.

I really love this setting powder by Nars because it’s so easy to use! Just swirl the brush (sold separately) in the powder, tap off excess, and transfer to your face! Do this after you’ve finished putting on all liquids and crams for best results!

Another really good alternative is this one by Laura Mercier  (Yes, I know – I’m in love)

Thanks Lisa, how do you find the beauty blender compares to a regular brush? Sometimes i like to use a brush when I’m really really taking my time. But most of the time, I don’t.

It has been so long since I have actually used a brush with liquid foundation that I can’t quite compare fairly. You’re absolutely right though, the beauty blender is so much faster to use!

I still like to use a brush when I take my time to layer! Especially if my beauty blender is still drying from a cleanse.
