What To Pack In Your Makeup Bag For A Summer Trip

What to pack in your summer travel beauty bag

Hello from down south! I’m on a road trip from Chicago through the southwest and onto Texas! I’ve packed all my hot weather essentials like my swing dresses, fedoras, and of course, sunscreen. This is a trip we do every year because I receive much needed medical help in Texas for my eyes. Let’s just say, without the wonderful doctors I have, I probably wouldn’t be able to write to you right now.

We are out here for a week (or more) and have a few things on our agenda. Last time we went to Texas I visited Magnolia and a few museums here and there. This time around, I have a list of great cafes  I want to check out.

I’ve been wanting to feature more behind the scenes stuff like where I eat, shop, and travel to, so I hope I can get some great posts from this trip!

Like always, I’m squeezing a weeks worth of clothing into a carry on although we are road tripping. I’m using the file fold method (more about that here) and my storage cubes.

A few things I’m looking forward to wearing include this ruffled swimsuit, this maxi dress which is , and these denim shorts. All of which are perfect for the hot Texas sun.

Speaking of, do you have any travel plans for summer? Let me know in the comments below!

ONE: This makeup setting spray is so amazing and everything proof – sweat proof, water proof, cry proof! I took this with last time and the Texas sun had nothing on me.

TWO: Trips mean long times in air conditioning, sweatiness, and polluted areas. These alpha beta peels pads are like mini facials that leave you glowing and feeling clean. I packed about 7, one for each day.

THREE: I’m ditching the pale party for a week and self tanning using the Purity Mousse from St. Tropez. It smells like tropical heaven too.

FOUR: If you don’t have foundation darker than your skin, this bronzing mist is great for self tanning! I love it because I can spray it on at night and wake up looking golden and healthy. No makeup needed for those extra hot days.

FIVE: A perfect contour, one box away. This is one of the most flattering bronzers on the market and it’s so subtle so you can layer or make your contour deeper.

SIX: Chanel makes a beautiful foaming gel and this one fits perfectly in my makeup bag. This cleansing gel is so luxurious without being over the top (in terms of smell)

SEVEN: Don’t take all your blush and eyeshadows with, just take this palette. Has every summer color you may need and fits really well into most makeup bags. I accidents smashed the bronzer (hence the one above) so I have to bring the extra.

EIGHT: Gel eyeliner from Bobbi Brown is waterproof, sweat proof, and cry proof. So that means it’s perfect for warm weather trips.

NINE: I like to bring this every wear I go in case my self tan doesn’t work out (I’m not very good at upkeep!). This foundation is very light weight and doesn’t smudge in the heat. Just set it with the spray!

TEN: You want strong brows, like the tropical goddess you are! I love a good defined brow so I bring along my Anastasia Beverly Hills pomade to do the trick.

ELEVEN: And of course, I never leave the house without red lipstick – which works no matter what vacation you’re taking. Red lipstick is always so elegant.

  • I meant to get a post out today.. I really did. But when things get messy, I like to step back and just focus my attention on the issue and not tire myself out. This is a huge problem I see when people try to “do it all”. NEWSFLASH: you don’t have to do it all and no one is expecting you to. Go somewhere (or stay indoors) and make sure that YOU are taking care of yourself in some way: meditation, spa, journaling, etc. one of my favorite things to do is walk. And I love walking to the stunning Japanese gardens in the @artinstitutechi 🌳

I love coming here to sit down with my coffee and listen to the water fountains while reading a book. It's a beautiful and serene place in downtown. And it's so lovely seeing everyone enjoy it. • Bringing 50s style to the cathedral. Much #Grantchester vibes. Anyone else watch mystery shows set in the 50s? I love Grantchester and Father Brown. All the characters look so smart in their period clothing! For an easy breezy 50's look, I love putting on a gingham dress paired with my oh so comfortable Oxford sneakers. • First it was the Gish sisters, then Ginger Rogers, then President Kennedy, and now The Petite Bijou! Honored to have stayed at @theblackstonehotel hotel and I'm taking you behind the scenes of this historical Chicago hotel in my first ever travel series on the blog called The Bijou Guide to Historical Chicago!
This hotel opened in 1910 and it still has all the glitz, glamour, and original history inside and out. From the grand lobby (featuring a lovely typewrite I'm obsessed with) to the private rooms and suites. This hotel oozes luxury and history that I shared in the latest blog post. • I have been a student for what can be best described as "infinity" amount of time. And two degrees, 3 whirlwind majors later, I have a few tricks and tips under my belt about how to survive college. So today I'm sharing 25 of my best tips for not only staying sane - but organized, efficient, and studious. There's some surprising tips there, so do check it out.
I want to know, are you in college right now? Tell us what you are studying ❤️ Are any of you later in life college students?
Here's my journey just in case you feel shy to share:
▪️Spent 5 years in undergrad getting a BA in History & Anthropology. Prepped to study abroad in Britain for my higher degree afterwards
▪️Decided not to pursue a higher degree in History, needed premedical classes I never took.
▪️Applied and accepted into a Post Baccalaureate medical school program. Started my blog during classes.
▪️During this program, couldn't pass Chem or Math (should have known), quit and took gap year doing more internships
▪️Took GRE but got rejected for Marketing and Communications programs due to low "math" score portion of GRE....ok then...
▪️Applied to my last option, got in, and got my Masters in IMC (Integrated Marketing Communications). Best decision ever, should have done it first and sooner.
So you see, it's ok if you're journey isn't standard...it doesn't matter. What matters is you find what works for you and you do a great job at it. My journey had ups and downs but in the end, my happiness was priority. #thepetitebijou #collegetips #backtoschool #universitylife
