Most people go “New Year, New Me” but this January I’m on a mission not to change myself – but to upgrade my lifestyle a bit.
My goal is to slowly build the lifestyle I want: an elegant space, a curated closet, and a mindset of growth.
When I say elegant space, I mean it’s time to replace those 10+ year old sheets with new luxury linen. It’s time to switch to more natural candles, and it’s time to add items to my wardrobe that will serve a function and not just look pretty.
So that is my mission for the year – start replacing, start curating. And today I’m sharing what’s headed to my shopping cart as I “upgrade” my lifestyle!

For The Home
The most updating I need is in the kitchen. Bowls and platters with chips and mismatched sets line my shelves. I would like to bring in more uniformity to my kitchen starting with the utensils. Having guests overshoe get a different set of cutlery isn’t the best impression of an elegant hostess, is it?
It would be lovely to have a beautiful tables cape using my favorite color, blue. These ginger jar patterned plates look stunning next to my white vases filled with white hydrangeas. This way I can bring a little pattern to my table.
To set the mood for the rest of my space, I’d like to switch out some of the candles I have been using which contain toxic chemicals. After attending a lovely event with Diptyque, I learned that their whole collection is produced with natural ingredients for clean burning. And it’s all made in their French office! You have to appreciate a brand that makes their products in house. The Eucalyptus scent is very refreshing and burns nicely.
For The Closet
You probably aren’t surprised I’m not replacing too much in my closet. After all, I am all about a great capsule wardrobe – so most things I own are already perfectly fitted to my style. A few basics do need replacing however. A thermal top in my closet has been damaged by paint stains. So in the new top goes!
A note: never paint anything (yes, even a small picture frame) with your nice clothes on.
Chicago is most likely going to have a chilly spring, so a good teddy coat will do quite nicely for when that type of weather arrives.
For The Makeup Table
My makeup collection is vast – probably too big, actually. But I can’t help wanting to try new brands. Charlotte Tilbury is a brand I am just learning about really. Having recently gotten to sample a lipstick, I am impressed with the quality and pigments. My favorite shade was “Very Victoria” inspired by Victoria Beckham.
Well, I thought why not give the eyeshadow a try? So into my shopping cart went this Pillow Talk Eyeshadow palette. I can’t wait to review it for you all.
What do you like in my shopping cart for January? Have you tried any of these products? Let me know in the comments below.
